Enjoy a great river experience
Our houseboat is located on the Murray River at Kingston-on-Murray in the Riverland of South Australia.
The boat itself offers spacious areas inside, and on the amazing top deck, to relax and enjoy the wonderful changing scenery.
However, while living on the houseboat you will find the river is a playground in itself.
Here are a few suggestions on what you can do while staying on the houseboat.
Discover the backwaters
Kingston-on-Murray has many creeks, perfect for exploring in a canoe. You can paddle to Lake Bonney and explore Loch Luna. Canoes and kayaks are available for hire.
Water Sports
For those that like to exert some energy, the Murray River is great for skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding. There are sandbars for pulling up and enjoying a swim.
Catch your dinner!
Fishing is a favourite past-time on the river. The most sought after freshwater fish is the native Murray Cod. Drop some pots in and try your luck at yabbying!
Fun around a campfire
As the sun sets over the river, light the campfire, toast marshmallows and enjoy the company of your crew. You will create wonderful memories of your river holiday.
Enjoy nature's beauty
As you meander the waterways you will see spectacular scenery, and an abundance of flora and fauna. It's a perfect environment for bird watching and taking photos.
Loch Luna Cruise
Meet up with Carl at Kingston-on-Murray foreshore for a 3 hour guided tour of the waterways. Carl will share his knowledge and you will get up close to nature.
Which way to go?
No matter which way you decide to cruise, upstream or downstream, you will find the river fairly quiet with not a lot of traffic and plently of mooring spots.
UPSTREAM
Cobdogla - Cobby Club open 7 days or visit Cobby Steam Museum, open Sundays or by appointment
Moorook - General Store, kids playground, Moorook Club see website for hours.
Loxton - Major town with main street for shopping, easy walking distance from the river. Loxton Historical Village attraction close to mooring.
DOWNSTREAM - Experience Lock 3
Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre - enjoy wines, light meals/cofee, nature walk. Just 4kms from our houseboat mooring.
Overland Corner - Historical Overland Corner Hotel - Meals weekends and some weekdays, live entertainment on selected weekends, outdoor dinning, Great cliff top walk to look for fossils.
Waikerie - Major town with arts, crafts, bakery, supermarkets and hotel.
